Abstract

The implementation of Industrialised Building System (IBS) has been introduced in Malaysia construction industries since early 1960 and the government has launched the first IBS project which was known as Pekeliling Flat in Kuala Lumpur with the low cost and affordable project. The survey conducted by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia indicated that the adoption of IBS in local construction industry still considered low and doesn’t reach to the satisfaction level although the adoption of IBS has been introduced and promoted by the government parties from the early stage. The adoption of IBS still remains as low definitely due to the barriers that strictly the implementation of IBS in construction industry. Thus, in this study is conducted to improve the adoption of IBS in current construction industry by identify the advantages, barriers and the current awareness on the usage of IBS. Therefore, the awareness will generate to enhance the rate of IBS adoption and minimize the negative perception and barriers to the minimum level.
