Abstract

The Steel Framing System is one of the module of the Industrial Building System. Basically, Steel Framing System can be used in different type of construction project. However, the Steel Framing System unable to accept by the local developer and contractor. As the result, the Steel Framing System is not adopted by the local developer and contractor in construction project. Therefore, in order to tackle this problem, these research study will be carried out to identify the barriers in implementing Steel Framing System in construction project, benefits gained by implementing Steel Framing System and effective ways can be taken to promote in Steel Framing System in construction project. the methodologies that will be applied for this research is starts with using literature review to identify the barriers in implementing Steel framing System in construction project, benefits gained by implementing Steel Framing System in construction project and identify the effective ways can be taken to promote in implementation of Steel Framing System based on previous researches. This is followed by the distributions of the questionnaire forms towards the developer, contractors, clients and Quantity Surveyor for the first, second and third objective. The data were then will be analyzed using Cronbach’s Alpha analysis and Descriptive analysis. The finding indicate the most agreed barriers in implementing Steel Framing System in construction project is poor skill knowledge, shortage and late supply, and negative perception from customers and professionals. However, the findings for second objective is monopolize local project, construct project with budgeted cost, and achieve zero accidents. Moreover, the findings for third objective is reinvestment allowance, more involvement in local project and investment tax allowance.
