Abstract

Nowadays, the construction defect claims are increase. Poor workmanship is the most major areas of concern. Besides, workmanship negligence and lack of effort put into the quality control for the construction project are the causes of failure of building structures. Lack of skills and experiences worker work on site are the causes which lead to poor quality of workmanship (Mydin & Othman 2014). Thus, the main purpose of the research is to compile defects found in houses certified with QLASSIC, to identify benefits/advantages of buying houses certified with QLASSIC and to evaluate home buyers' satisfaction with the quality of houses certified with QLASSIC. For comparison purpose is to compare the overall satisfaction with workmanship between home owners in two different blocks, Block A and Block B using same quality assessment systems, namely QLASSIC. QLASSIC, a quality assessment system is a system to evaluate and measure the quality of workmanship of a construction work which are based on the approved standard. QLASSIC which was adopted from the Construction Quality Assessment System (CONQUAS) of Singapore aims to address the on-going issues in the Malaysian construction industry. Furthermore, 80 sets of questionnaires have been prepared for obtain the data but only 60 sets of questionnaires have been collected from the residents who stayed in Block A certified with QLASSIC at KL area. In addition, to meet the objective of comparison between the two different blocks, there were also 52 sets of questionnaires has been collected from another student who doing the similar research title but different block, which is Block B.
