Abstract

Document Management System (DMS) is form of document conveyed from administrating a corporation's business transactions, decision-making records, and transitory documents. DMS is used for storing, controlling, coordinating, processing and/or retrieving documents in form of electronic or paper based. The issue that addresses in this research is the poor performance in construction industry due to poor erroneous Document Management (DM) in Quantity Surveyor (QS) practice. This often leads to major issues such as claims and disputes on delay or additional costs arise in post-contract stage. The purpose of this research explores DMS implementation in QS during postcontract stage. A literature review is studied to explore previous researchers’ findings on implementation of quality standard ISO 9001: 2008, types of modern DMS, responsibilities of QS during post-contract stage, benefits of implementing DMS as well as identifies challenges faced when practicing DMS. To ensure the validity and reliability of data collection, the interviews conducts with profession QS selects within Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur to represent the sampling. The interviews transcribe and analyses by defining the main themes and coding for the themes to analyse the data. These data will be the key solutions for construction party especially professional QS to appreciate the practicality of quality DM. Academic wise this research reviews the topic that easily overlooked in the daily activities.
