Abstract

A building façade is called a face of a building, also known as an envelope. It can be acted as an aesthetically pleasing objects purely for architectural purpose or it will have its own explanation of uses such as energy conversation or generation. In Malaysia, facades are rarely used in buildings because the developers often think that the construction of the façade is expensive and serves no purpose. Does Façade serve a greater purpose in our country? Based on Construction Technology, Facades are considered extremely versatile depending on the geographical location a building is situated in, selecting a correct façade for an area is essential to reap yourself aesthetics and also functionality. A research Is to be conducted to determine the functions and uses of different facades based on orientation in Malaysia. To gather data on facades, articles and the internet are used as a reference to obtain enough data, locations situated around Malaysia also are selected as a case study to understand the functions and uses of Facades in Malaysia.
