Abstract
The construction and demolition waste have an important effect on the environment and surroundings. Furthermore, the construction and demolition waste are messy trouble, the construction and demolition waste throw at landfill are linked to global warming, environmental pollution and degradation. However, the insufficient of construction and demolition waste management such as landfill are most common disposal method and one of the reason lead to this problems is poor level attributed to a lack of institutional supporting policy, recycling programs, and recycling facilities. As the result, the recycling and reuse methods less used for the construction and demolition waste management because there are not much profitable and take time to through the procedures. Therefore, to tackle this problem, these research study will be carried out to identify the benefits gained by handling proper construction waste management, the critical environmental impacts caused by construction waste management and recommended effective methods to handle the construction waste to minimise the environmental impacts. The methodologies that will be applied for this research is start with the literature review to identify the benefits gained by handling proper construction waste management, the critical environmental impacts caused by construction waste management and recommended effective methods to handle the construction waste to minimise the environmental impacts. This is followed by distributions of questionnaire forms towards the developers, contractors, quantity surveyors, and engineers for the environmental impacts by construction and demolition waste management for three objectives. The data were then will analysed by using Cronbach’s Alpha analysis and Frequency analysis. The findings for first objective indicate that the most agree benefits gained by handling proper construction waste management is reduction of waste, higher grade in tender evaluation and longer landfill lifetime. Furthermore, the findings for second objective indicate that critical impacts caused by construction waste management is global warming, water pollution and solid waste from construction. However, the findings for third objective indicate that recommended effective methods to handle the construction waste management to minimise the environmental impacts is recycling, reuse, prevention, minimization, and reduction.
