Abstract

Surgeon Team is a 4 player cooperative game that requires player to communicated verbally in order to beat the levels. The main design goal of this game is to encourage communication between players. First of all, miscommunication in the operation room is not uncommon, surgeons and nurses are sometimes assigned to people that they are unfamiliar with. Therefore, with this video game, they are able to get use to each other, by understanding each other’s speaking accent, styles or slang. Additionally, due to the lack of human interaction because of technology, this project aims to solve the problem by turning a source that causes lack of human interaction into a source of human interaction. Peers such as colleagues, friends or family are able to have a meaningful outing instead of having an outing with awkward silences. This project is developed as a Final Year Project in Tunku Abdul Rahman College. This project is developed on using the free game engine Unity. Additional software is used such as Paint.Net, Audacity and Vysor to help manage art and sound assets. The project is currently in prototype state with minor bugs in the game. There are some design flaws, with the game lacking unique gameplay mechanics. However, the game is successful in encouraging communication between players.
