Abstract

Industrialised Building System (IBS) has been introduced in the Malaysian construction industry since in the mid-1960s and the government has launched the first IBS project which was known as Pekeliling Flat in Kuala Lumpur. The questionnaire has been sent out to the 50 respondents of contractor around the Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur area as well as the data is analysed in the way of descriptive statistic and inferential statistics. Based on the feedback from the questionnaire, most of the respondents have knowledge on the IBS but not all of them are willing to adopt it. The reason that refuses to implement is the IBS system is still not mature and it has an unforeseeable situation. Thus, this study is to improve the adoption of the IBS in the current construction industry by identifying the factor, advantages and the problem and risks. Therefore, it will minimize the negative perception and barriers to the minimum level.
