Abstract
Construction industry plays a important role in Malaysia. Therefore, to Industrialised Building System (IBS) was introduced to Malaysia to improve image of construction industry, quality and production of it, reduce risk related to occupational safety and reduce the dependencies rate of foreign labour and achieving the ultimate goal of reducing the overall cost of construction. Despite all the advantages associated with IBS, the Malaysian construction industry player is not rapidly embracing IBS. The objectives of this research is to determine the factors of difficulties in implementing Industrialised Building System, identify the impacts of difficulties in implementing Industrialised Building System and identify the recommendations to enhance the implementation of Industrialised Building System in Malaysia construction industry. The aim of this paper is to understand why IBS face these challenges of implementation in Malaysia and why it facing these issues. Questionnaire survey will conduct to achieve the aims and objectives. The respondents for questionnaire survey include the parties involved in construction industry (Architect, Contractor, Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor) as they have knowledge on this construction field. In conclusion, the difficulties of implementing IBS will identified and discussed.
