Abstract
The traditional procurement method main use in Malaysian construction industry until 1992 able to satisfy major project requirement. This method is well known as the design and construction process is separate and the responsibility of party is difference. Although the popularity is decrease due to other type of procurement are introduce, traditional procurement method still become preference of client in construction project. The aim of this research is to study the traditional procurement method and its application in construction industry in Malaysia. The study conducted is to achieve three objective of the research they are: to identify the advantages and disadvantages of procurement system, factor influence the selection of traditional procurement method and the way to improve the traditional procurement method so that traditional procurement method can bring good value to the project and client. There are a series of literature review was conduct about the traditional procurement method from journal, news, article or public review to collecting the data in order to examine the information in current stage and study the information relevant to situation in Malaysia. In this research, the Quantity Surveyor consultant firm have been selected for the study on the objective of pros and cons of traditional procurement method, factor influence the selection of traditional procurement method, and way to improvement the traditional procurement method. A data collection through the questionnaire in Google Form has been collected from 103 of quantity surveyor consultant in Kuala Lumpur. Information are to analyse by using he SPSS through difference analysis on these factor. The aim and objective is achieved and analysed in the analysis section and conclusion & recommendation is provided as well for reference and also the future research recommendation as well.
