Abstract

Building information modelling (BIM) is a technology that is currently gaining momentum within the construction industry. BIM is defined as a modelling technology and associated set of processes to produce, communicate, and analyses building models throughout the entire project’s lifecycle. There is bound of benefits that we could gain from the BIM application but the effect of BIM towards QS professionals is still unsure and unclear. This research will focus on will the friendly user platform of BIM system influence the QS’s employment in Malaysia. The objectives of this study included which tasks of QS can be replaced by BIM software, can these task being done without QS knowledge, under what circumstances, company will prefer BIM than QS. The research will be using quantitative method and survey questionnaires were distributed in the construction field within Kuala Lumpur and Selangor area. Data collected will be analyses by using bar chart, pie chart, line graph, likert skill formula and others. The answer got from this dissertation could increase the QS’s awareness towards BIM and the QS career development.
