Abstract
Industrialised Building System (IBS) is a construction process which involves on-site or off-site installation that utilizes the techniques, components, building system or products. One of the IBS groups, precast concrete system will be focus in this research. Precast concrete are made in the moulds under controlled environment and then delivered to the construction site. The application of precast concrete system is low in Malaysian construction industry. Therefore, this research aims to identify the advantages of precast concrete system, identify the disadvantages of precast concrete system and determine the strategies to increase the usage of precast concrete system implementation in Malaysian construction industry. A literature review was conducted to identify the advantages of precast concrete system, disadvantages of precast concrete system and strategies for precast concrete system implementation in Malaysian construction industry. The survey questionnaire was conducted to seek for the views and opinions from the construction professions in Malaysian construction industry. There are 35 sets of survey forms were collected and analysed by using descriptive statistic method, importance index, Alpha Cronbach test and Kruskas-Wallis test. In conclusion, the top advantage of precast concrete system is cleaner environment. Next, the top disadvantage of precast concrete system is problems in design alteration. Lastly, the top strategy for precast concrete system implementation is improved research and development research.
