Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a circuit training programme on selected health related fitness components among college soccer players. A total of 22 university college soccer players (age= 20±1.13; weight= 65.09±10.46kg; height=169.50±4.75cm) took part in this study and were divided into experimental group (n=11) and control group (n=11). Both groups remained their normal training routines while experimental group went through an addition of circuit training for 6 weeks. The subjects were tested on 1 Repetition maximal test, 2.4Km test and Repetitive squat test. The data analysis showed that there were significant improvements in 2.4Km test (p=0.04). Conversely, there were no significant improvements in 1 Repetition maximal test (p=0.89) and Repetitive squat test (p=0.62) in experimental group. Meanwhile, control groups did not show any significant improvements in all the tested variables. This showed that the circuit training programme can improve selected health-related fitness components among soccer players.
