Abstract

The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of 6 weeks Swiss ball core training on balance and lower limb endurance among college students. A pre- intervention-post experimental design was adopted for this study. Sedentary college students were selected based on purposive sampling. Students were randomly assigned to the experimental group (n=10) and the other was the control group (n=10) by using systematic counterbalancing method. Pretest data was collected on balance and lower limb endurance. The experimental group underwent the training intervention of Swiss Ball core training for 6 weeks. The control did not undergo any training intervention. After 6 weeks, posttest data was collected. Inferential statistics indicated that there was no significant difference (p < 0.05) between pre and post test results in standing stork test (p = 0.176) on the experimental group but there was a significant difference (p < 0.05) between pre and post measures of four square step test (p = 0.001) and repetitive squat test (p = 0.001) for the experimental group. The results indicate that a six week core training was effective in enhancing dynamic balance and lower limb endurance.
