Abstract
The aim of the study was to determine the effect of looped band training on gluteal muscle activity among sedentary individuals. The training programme was designed according to the ACSM’s Guideline of the lower body exercise with and without looped band in order to investigate its effect on gluteal muscle activity. The participant was delimited from Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARUC) students. There were total of 20 subjects, male (n = 8) & female (n = 12) who aged from 18 to 25 years old. Subjects were divided into CG (n = 9), training without loop band and EG (n = 11), training with loop band and randomly assigned using systematic counter balancing method based on pre-test Z score result. Both groups have gone through 6-weeks of intervention programme. Training for both group twice a week with about 45 minutes per session. The participant was tested on gluteal muscle activity using PHE test and EMG. Data analysis showed that there was no significant improvement (p > .05) in gluteal muscle activity between two groups. This proved that looped band training on lower body has effectiveness on gluteal muscle activation.
