Abstract
Stress arises from several factors which are due to the work environment, parental expectation and academic. The long term effect of stress towards older or unhealthy individuals can damage their health. Motivation plays an important role in influencing physical activity participation; where it affects an individual participation. The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of stress and motivation towards the physical activity participation among university college students. There were limited studies that focuses on the relationship between stress and motivation towards the physical activity participation among university college students. Participants n = 380 consisted on 219 males and 161 females that volunteered for the study. Participants completed an inventory which was the Adapted University Stress Scale and Physical Activity and Leisure Motivation Questionnaire. A correlation survey design was employed to obtain the data needed. Correlation analyses revealed that intrinsic and extrinsic motivation for participated physical activity were associated with stress. The influence of stress and motivation towards physical activity participation was important in remain health in physically and mentally. The study had found that enjoyment of motivation had correlated between stress and motivation toward physical activity participation.
