Abstract
Low-cost housing is one of the important affordable homes for all citizens particularly on low-income group. The main objective of this dissertation is to measure and compare the perception and satisfaction of residents in two different low-cost housing towards the facilities and building maintenance services provided. It is important to understand the satisfaction of residents and make an improvement to the existing performance. At first, literature review provides a theoretical background to the study which serves to enhance and consolidate knowledge base is established. Then, research methodology that describing the ways to approach in data collection is formulated. Questionnaire surveys are chosen to collect the data from Sri Rakyat Apartment and PPR Raya Permai. The data is analysed using SPSS software, cross tabulation and chi-square tests of independence, and independent samples t-tests. At last of this chapter, satisfaction theory is also explained, and the understanding will be applied into the result of the findings. The finding is used to formulate series of recommendations which will be of use to undertake the improvement of low-cost housing in the context of urban development in Malaysia.
