Abstract

The title of this study is chonotype determination and its relationship with result performance among university student in a private university in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The chronotype determination affects individual performance is always believed between eastern and western country. There is no valid relationship study between chronotype and result performance of university student in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. The objective of this study was to validate and determine the relationship between chronotype and result performance of the university student. Total of 424 subjects aged 19-24 years old were recruited through purposive sampling method among different faculties in a private university in Kuala Lumpur. Kolmogorov-Smimov test, Chi-Square test, Mann-Whitney U test and cross classification were used to determine the validity of this result performance score. In the correlation study between gender and result performance, female student mean rank was higher than male student’s at 227.01 and 187.83, this indicate female obtain higher CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) score than male student. For the race category (p=0.71), shown there is no correlation (p≤0.05) with CGPA score. For age category (p=0.76), there is no correlation (p≤0.05) with CGPA score. For faculty category (p=0.075), there is no correlation (p≤0.05) with CGPA score. For chronotype (p=0.429), there is no correlation (p≤0.05) with CGPA score. In conclusion, the chronotype and result performance among university student in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia have no significant relationship.
