Abstract

Chronotype (morningness or eveningness) is used to determine the relationship between sleeping time and diurnal preference of an individual. It was mainly divided into Morning types, Intermediate type, and Evening types. In this study, online Google Forms of MEQ and CP-Q were used to analyze the chronotype of students in TARUC, KL. There were a total of 404 students aged 20 to 23 years old participated in this study survey. The Chrononutrion Profile (CP) included five behavioral patterns in this study to assess one’s chrononutrition, namely Eating Window, Breakfast Skipping, Evening Latency, Evening Eating as well as Night Eating. The chronotype and CP scoring were calculated and analyzed. The most prevalent class of chronotype among the students was Intermediate type (67.1%; n= 271). Speaking of gender, there was no significant difference between the male and female in all the five chrononutrition variables (p>0.05). The correlation between chronotype and chrononutrition was analyzed using Pearson and Spearman correlation tests. The results showed that Breakfast Skipping (r=-0.377) and Evening Eating (r=-0.342) had significant negative correlation with the chronotype scoring (p<0.001), where the two variables were inversely proportional to the chronotype scoring. On the other hand, the Eating Window (r=0.006), Evening Latency (r=0.027) and Night Eating (r=0.035) showed no correlation (p>0.05) with the chronoype scoring. Hence, the chronotype scoring had no influence on these three chrononutrion variables.
