Abstract

This dissertation was to carried out the factors which lead to construction concrete formwork failure in aspect of implementation level of inspection on formwork before and after casting concrete in the industry, the difference between existing and absence of company's ISO certification on standard operation procedure on casting concrete with use of formwork and determine the type of popular formwork system currently apply in Malaysia industry. The literature review had discussed on the type of proper inspection to be carry out and also the party which to liable and in charge on the formwork inspection. Furthermore, the standard operation procedure had been consider in this dissertation. To make sure the safety of a formwork to be carry out on site it must be submitted relevant details and documentation to the party in charge and local authority. To achieve the aims and objective of this research, the quantitative method had been carried out such as questionnaire survey review the level of implantation on operation procedure and inspection procedure that carry out by construction panel. The target of respondents are in Klang valley involved developer, consultants and also contractors. The survey are liable as it been filled up by construction panel which had experienced in the industry for at least 1 years and up to more than 10years. The result being analyze with descriptive method with comparison difference between company with and without ISO certification. The hypothesis in this research to be tested is company without ISO certification will lack on following the procedure and also inspection. In summary of the result showed that the hypothesis is positive as company without ISO Certification are lack on following the procedure while company with ISO Certification were mostly carry out work with standard operation procedure. It do reflect that Malaysia construction with medium and low range are more focus on cost saving, while high range of construction panel such as developer are mean to deliver better and durable product instead of just cost saving.
