Abstract
Instagram turns a big 10 years in 2020 and its existence in many people's lives, especially teenagers. Teenagers as targeted and heavy users of Instagram, they are likely to share their stories and present themselves by posting photos and videos on their Instagram account. With continuous development of Instagram features, it becomes more interesting and attracts teenagers to present the perfectable oneself and be visible to others on the platform. This leads teenagers to share different types of photos to obtain certain certifications from other people, thereby creating different identities. The purpose for this research is to find out teenagers in Klang Valley construct identity through Instagram. The researcher conducted a survey questionnaire form and a total of 100 respondents responded. In this study, 90% of the respondents admitted they posted something on Instagram in order to let others know. On the other hand, 87% of the respondents also agreed that teenagers like to create a different identity from reality on Instagram. Since all the respondents are between 18 – 24 years old, therefore, they are also agreeing with themselves using Instagram to create a different identity from reality. The result from this survey is useful to develop more understanding and contribution to this research.
