Abstract

This research study aspires to improve the Construction Waste Management problems in the Malaysia construction industry. The vast development in Malaysia has caused the Construction Industry to generate tons of construction waste. All the construction parties such as Employers, Architects, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Contractors and the like are supposed to be responsible for the construction waste generated during construction because they are professionals. However, it seems like Malaysia is still weak in managing construction waste and Construction Waste Management is often not considered by Malaysia construction projects during the early stage of the construction project. It is very confusing to the construction parties and causes the problems of Construction Waste Management to remain unresolved. Thus, it is important to study this topic in order to identify the problems. Objectives were designed to aid in the accomplishment of the aim of this study. Next, the literature of Construction Waste Management in the past are minimal and insufficient. The past studies are only focusing on the type of construction waste being generated during construction. It can be from the construction of the residential development, commercial development or any other development which contributes to the generation of the construction waste. Therefore, this research study will benefit the small amount of the literature and thus improve the Construction Waste Management problems in Malaysia. Furthermore, the adopted research method is Quantitative Research. This is because it is more scientific and it suits this research study. A large amount of data will be gathered and then analysed statistically to answer the research questions. Quantitative Research xxii has more control because the researchers can decide how the data are gathered. and causes this research study to use Survey Questionnaires. The Survey Questionnaires consist of a few sections to be answered by the respondents. It ranges from the background of the respondents to the opinion of the respondents in Construction Waste Management. The results will then be analysed using IBM SPSS STATISTICS 24. This is because SPSS will be more efficient in analysing the Survey Questionnaires. SPSS is capable of handling large amounts of data and can perform all of the analyses used in this research study. The result of the Survey Questionnaires shown in SPSS has been identified using Scatterplot and Multiple Linear Regression. It shows a trend between the independent variables and the dependent variables. Some of the results show positive and some show negative result. The result will be reviewed and be presented in the last chapter of this book followed by the recommendations to take actions and for future study. Lastly, this result will mitigate the Construction Waste in Malaysia when Construction Waste Management is adopted in the future.
