Abstract

In order to improve the country’s technology in term of construction industry and transforming the country from developing country to step forward to developed country. IBS has been introduced by the government in Malaysia which provide better quality control and safer and cleaner site. This technology, IBS has introduced by CIDB since 1960s and now, Malaysia still keeps advocated such technology to be used. Furthermore, CREAM has also promote PPVC to apply in Malaysia, so this research study is conducted for identify the status of IBS and PPVC in Malaysia, which see the progress of IBS nowadays that comply in Malaysia’s construction industry for more than 20 years and see whether PPVC is already been used in Malaysia and what are the challenges has faced by Malaysia in apply PPVC. Interview conducted for this research study which as primary data collection, and the data collected will go through content analysis the answer from Grade 7 Contractor who is expert in IBS. Total of 3 respondents accepted the invitation for interview and achieved saturated. As interpret from the findings revealed that the status of IBS are still in slow pace while the respondent comment on PPVC is a new thing for them which required time and cost on adventure on this technology and need support from the government by giving some incentive for executions. As final results that IBS are not much improvement compared to previous studies, which means challenges that encountered does not resolve and if launching PPVC in Malaysia will face are, expensive in term of machinery, mould and constraint of time synchronise for mould production. As PPVC are still been embark to be used in Malaysia but currently status is still manufacture the mould to neighbor country, Singapore. This research study can gives all the industrial players to have better understand the current status of IBS and PPVC in Malaysia and what are the challenges once applied in Malaysia. In this study also have limitation which are the respondent’s respond rate is relatively low, which invited around 20 contractors who expert in IBS which found in the CIDB website and the only 3 accepted the interview’s invitation. After conducted interview and interpret the respondents’ answer, the answer achieved saturated.
