Abstract

This research report shows the results of survey regarding implementation Building Information Modelling (BIM) system in residential building in Malaysia. The construction industry is constantly evolving throughout the decade. The purpose of this study is to explore the benefit and barrier application of BIM in residential building construction zone of Malaysia. 100 respondents’ response were analyzed and the data are discussing and tabulated. The results show that majority of the respondents are aware of BIM system and their advantage and challengers of implementation in Malaysia. The respondent response towards BIM is more positive due to its clear advantages. However, BIM was being agreed as being the future of construction industry in Malaysia if given proper strategies of implementation. It can be concluded that BIM is still in early phase of implementation in Malaysia construction industry. However, once implemented, the advantages and benefits of these software will bring the industry to a whole new advanced and new level.
