Abstract

The pandemic Covid19 has been creating chaos among the construction industry. With the addition of the upcoming MCO in curbing the spread of the pandemic, it has caused several troubles to construction players such as disruptions of supply chains and inflation of material prices. One of the notable effect are project delays due to the pandemic. All construction projects are forced to be halted and most construction practitioners suffers intense losses as the consequences. Thus, this research aims to investigate the mitigation strategies on project delays due to the pandemic Covid19 and to investigate the strategies in performing risk management to address future similar type of problems. Since this topic is quite new in the industry, qualitative method will be implemented. The method used to collect the qualitative data is through conduct of interview. The answers from the respondents are analysed using content analysis. Based on the content analysis, the respondents’ answers can be classified under 3 themes which is safety and health, scheduling factors and interpersonal skills. Safety and health is the most concerned factors in terms of mitigation strategies on project delays and strategies in risk management plan. The next theme is scheduling factors in which the actions taken will directly affect project workflow, schedule, trades and completion date. The final theme is interpersonal skills in which is about strategies to communicate with parties.
