Abstract

In order to develop country, latest and advanced technology is crucial in construction industry. Construction Industry Transformation Programme (CITP) launched by the Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) emphasize to transform the construction industry by increasing the productivity. Based on Construction Industry Transformation Programme (CITP), it mentioned that our productivity is lagging because of the limited adoption of modern practices and information technology. The way to improve productivity is to increase the technology usage in construction industry. Therefore, this research aims to explore the potential and challenges of mixed reality in Malaysia’s construction industry. Questionnaire survey through online was adopted for primary data collection. The target respondents for this research which is Grade 7 contractors in Malaysia’s construction industry. The data collected were analysed with descriptive analyses and test for difference (ANOVA). The result reveals the respondents remained neutral in response to the potential and challenges of mixed reality in the construction industry. ANOVA presents that there is no significance different between company age, company sizes and company main business scale towards potential and challenges of mixed reality in Malaysia’s construction industry. This research contributes a body of knowledge to the government, policy makers and Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) to increase the application of mixed reality in the Malaysian's construction industry.
