Abstract
Construction waste management nowadays are generally applied in construction and it is well developed in the developed countries. However, comprehensive construction waste management is still not being adopted in the Malaysian construction industry although its advantages have been recognized by construction parties. Nowadays, Malaysian construction industry deal with the crisis of annually increased total construction waste disposed. Therefore, construction waste management should be paid attention by construction parties in order to work on this trouble. Therefore, this research study with the topic “A study on the Construction Waste Management in the Malaysian Construction Industry” is carried out. The objectives of research are to identify the barriers in adopting construction waste management in building projects, identify effective measures to increase the adoption of construction waste management in building projects and identify the common waste management practices that can be applied in building projects. Thus, a literature review has been reviewed and a questionnaire survey have been conducted, where 63 respondents had taken part through online. Moreover, the data collected is analysed by descriptive and inferential method such as one-way ANOVA with Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The results shows that the overall awareness level of construction waste management is all above average. Furthermore, conclusion of research statistics also has been made on barriers, effective measures and common practices of construction waste management. Eventually, these findings may act as references for the future development of construction waste management in Malaysia
