Abstract

In the new Information and Communication Technology (ICT) era, the demand for electronic gadgets and digital technologies is rising. The construction industry in Malaysia is catching up with advancement gradually. In the 1970s, Building Information Modelling (BIM) has been an establishment contributing to the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry. With the limit of hardware advancement, BIM can still improve to meet the consumer's needs constantly. In the past five years, Glodon software is established as a BIM-based software that is particularly beneficial to the Quantity Surveyors to assist the quantity take-off process and estimation process. However, this software seems less attractive to the QSs as it is still very much infancy among the QS profession. Besides, the traditional quantity surveying method has gained a monopoly for a long time. Despite there are many advantages of software implementation, some organisations, including the contracting or consulting, lack knowledge about the Glodon software due to the little study done about this software. Therefore, to resolve these issues, this research thesis is carried out to identify the features of Glodon software, the barriers to implement Glodon software, and the effective ways that can be taken to promote wide usage of Glodon software in Malaysia. This research paper started with the forming of research aim, which is to establish the strategic ways to promote the wide implementation of the Glodon software for QTO. The quantitative approach is adopted, by which 100 questionnaire survey forms have been distributed to the QSs working in the consultancy and contracting company. There is a total of 75 respondents participated in the survey. The collected data is analysed by using the SPSS software. In short, the finding of this research has successfully achieved the objectives at a satisfactory level. Some solid case studies and review are recommended to widen the scope of embracing the Glodon software in the QS practice
