Abstract

The Malaysian construction industry plays an important role in generating income to the country and development of social and economic infrastructures and buildings. Due to insufficient local work power and availability of cheap foreign workers, majority of the employers preferred to hired the foreign worker. This results in the increase of the foreign worker in our country. Importing foreign worker into our country causes a lot of effects such as social and health problems. The aim of this research is to find out the reasons of the dependency of foreign workers in the construction industry in Malaysia, the impact of foreign worker towards the development of construction industry in Malaysia and also the impact of foreign worker towards the social economy of Malaysia. The contractor who are private sector and Malaysians will be chosen to answer the questionnaire surveys by using Google Form to carry out the result data for this research. Likert scale questions is used in the questionnaire that given to the Contractor. One hundred (100) questionnaire survey are sent to the local contractor and there are eighty-eight (88) respondents responds to our questionnaire survey. The data obtained will be analyse by using Microsoft Excel 2016. The key of this research is to help the employers in construction industry which include contractor and employer to find out the reasons of dependency and discuss the impact of foreign workers brings to the construction industry and social economy of Malaysia
