Abstract

Nowadays, the technology is getting more advance in construction industry compared to last time. The advantages of Information Communication Technology (ICT) help Quantity Surveyor to speed up their working process. With the help of technology, Quantity Surveyor can facilitate the process of prepare tender document, measurement work and also prepare BQ and work throughout the entire project. However, the rate of adopting technology in Malaysia construction industry are relatively low although there are many advantages that technology will bring to the Quantity Surveyor. The objectives of this research study are to study the advantages of the use of technology by Quantity Surveyor. Moreover, to identify the barriers in adopting technology among Quantity Surveyor as the rate of adopting are low compared to other countries. Lastly, the third objectives of this research study are to study the possible solution to overcome the barriers in adopting technology by Quantity Surveyor. The data collection will be using qualitative and quantitative both method, data will be collected by distributing the questionnaire survey form and conduct interview with Quantity Surveyor in construction industry. All data collected will be analysed and transfer into percentage and statistics form by using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software. The result will also be shown in a table and bar chart form to have a clearer understanding. This research study will contain information regarding with the available technology in construction industry. It helps to spread the awareness the advantages that technology could help Quantity Surveyor in numerous ways. Therefore, the Quantity Surveying firm in construction industry can have a better understanding towards the technology and not fear to invest a new technology in their own firm.
