Abstract

Smart City concept provides the city of innovation and development of new ideas and opens up a new perspective of the city when global urban development and the survival of mankind is facing severely restricted. Its character is taking the Internet as one of the important foundations, advanced information technology, relying on the intelligent fusion of technology and network, developing new models, and new forms as a significant part of the city. Many developed countries in the industrial transformation and social development, had recognized the foresight of "smart cities" earlier, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Netherlands, Sweden, Korea, Singapore. They have been introduced and implemented the strategy of smart city, and gradually achieved results. In Malaysia, Smart cities of Cyberjaya have received recognition of the local government. Cyberjaya has implemented an "intelligent cities" strategy, intended to seize the first-mover advantage. But the current study on the theory and practice of smart city in our country is still at the primary stage, most of the research is just at the stage of policy. This research analyses the basic concepts and the content from the theoretical aspect, analyses the key technical problems from the technical dimension, analyses the strategies of the smart cities, and analyses the important significance of constructing smart cities for city development from the applied level. This research is used as a questionnaire method to analyse the infrastructure construction of Cyberjaya smart cities, make quantitative statistical analysis. Furthermore, 335 sets of the questionnaire have been prepared for obtaining the data and the target group of respondents is the developer and main contractor. In conclusion, this study can help people to understand the concept of smart cities in Cyberjaya, the importance of smart cities in Cyberjaya, and also the challenges of the smart cities in Cyberjaya.
