Abstract

Solid polymer electrolyte with PVdF as base polymer and LiTf as salt was synthesised. The effect of salt concentration on polymer electrolytes has been studied. Then, the comparison for different concentration of salt had was carried out. The ionic conductivity of polymer electrolyte produced is from 1.45×10-7Scm-1 to 1.45×10-4Scm-1. Polymer electrolytes produced with the solution casting method obey Vogel-Tamman-Fulcher (VTF) theory which is related to the free volume model. The addition of LiTf does not affect the glass transition temperature (Tg) significantly. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) studies show that there iscomplexation between PVDF and LiTf. Polymer electrolyte with higher salt concentration has a wider electrochemical potential window compared low salt concentration as shown in linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) curve. EDLC cell is fabricated and its properties analysed. EDLC cell prepared has a very high specific capacitance. The drop in specific capacitance after 100 cycles of charge-discharge is only 2.8% as shown from the GCD curve.
