Abstract
The implementation of vibration treatment has used as therapeutic and improve individual’s physical performance. Although it is commonly practiced by peoples, but the actual intensity and duration is still arguable. The purpose of this systematic review is to investigate the acute effect of whole body vibration and local muscle vibration on lower limb muscular strength and power. Studies were retrieved from several search engines: Google Scholar, Springer Link and Pubmed that tested the acute effect of both local and whole body vibration on lower limb muscular strength and power. 19 studies were identified and the studies of whole body vibration showed inconsistent effects while local muscle vibration showed significant effect on muscular strength performance. However, there was only one studies examined on local muscle vibration on power and no significant showed. Although this systematic review finds that inconsistence improvement on muscular performance, but it also efficient in muscle flexibility and hormones changes. These findings provide the information to coaches and therapists regarding the efficacy of both types of vibration interventions on muscular performance, and the protocols of the interventions for the purpose of performance improvement for whole body vibration on athlete were still need future research to find out the duration and intensity.
