Abstract
This project is study on the impact of Japanese Anime Pilgrimage and how it can affect Japan’s tourism: A case study of anime movie “Spirited Away” (2001) and “Your Name (2016)”. In recent years, the pop culture of Anime is becoming more and more popular, and it has also brought up a new trend and new form to conduct travel. Those people visit a particular place to support their favorite Anime called Anime Pilgrimage. To investigate this phenomenon of Anime Pilgrimage and how it can affect Japan’s tourism, this research is being conducted. This research focuses on three objectives: whether the reality of Japanese culture is the same as anime and to analyze the phenomenon of Anime pilgrimage and to determine the impact of anime on travel intention. Thereafter, a quantitative method was used to conduct the survey. This research used the survey questionnaire and collected 137 respondents from age range between 18-35 years old who were living in KL,Setapak, Malaysia. The result of this research shows that people think the Anime has the big potential to lead the traveling trend and the Japanese culture and the places that portrayed by the Anime film, it is the same as the reality. Thus, they have the desire to conduct trips of Anime Pilgrimage.
