Abstract

The understanding of love of a person is individualistic, it might be very dependent on their personal cultures, everyone would have different perceptions towards love especially love in homosexuality. This paper discusses the perception of the audiences towards the character - Ellie Chu in the film The Half of It (2020) . The focus group discussion will be conducted to study the understanding of the audiences towards the character in the film selected. The respondents will be divided into three groups which are male group, female group and mixed group. The result shows that the perceptions of audiences towards the LGBT character Ellie Chu in The Half of It (2020) is positive. Most of the people has accepted the idea of homosexuality and perceived the LGBT character in a good way, whereas all of them have their own definition of love, they do agree the character’s opinion of love but it does not change the way they perceive love.
