Abstract

This research aims to indicate the level of gender bias in the Public Relations Industry in Malaysia. The researcher found the positive changes have appeared in the studies of these recent years, and there are some contradictions when compared with the previous studies, which claimed that gender bias is significant and gave negative impacts on working women in the workplace. The findings will focus on a few variables that are affected by gender bias, such as recruitment process, promotions and task distributions. Although there is numerous research that related to these variables had been conducted in the field, but there is a lack of references on this issue under the COVID-19 situation. Thus, there will be a comparison in terms of the work processes based on the experiences of Public Relations practitioners before and after the COVID-19 pandemic situation. Due to the lockdown period, most of the organisations are necessary to close for preventing the infections and the Work from Home is implied. The task allocation of the employees might be different based on gender. Hence, this research will also give an insight and compare the level of gender bias in a different situation and working environment of the Public Relations industry in Malaysia.
