Abstract

This study is to investigate the readership in the females population in Malaysia. Nowadays, females have also become the breadwinner in a family and it is important to understand the needs of females. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to investigate the readership between printed newspapers and online newspapers among females in Malaysia. In order to achieve the goal of this research, a focus group interview through google meet will be conducted and there will be 9 respondents. The findings show that choosing online newspapers is because it brings convenience to the public, it can save their time, and at the same time it is also flexible toward the public. There are some of the respondents still choosing printed newspapers because they publish true information as well as it saves time. Besides, the results also show that the respondents gain satisfaction from reading online newspapers or printed newspapers. There are cognitive needs, social integrative and affective needs. Therefore, Uses and Gratification theory was being used in this research. Lastly, there are some recommendations for future research regarding the readership between printed newspapers and online newspapers among females in Malaysia.
