Abstract

Agriculture is an important sector in Malaysia for fostering economic growth. As internationally recognized, Malaysia is an agricultural region, the farming sector is distinguished by its bilateral existence, primary assets such as rubber and oil palm, and the secondary food division with paddy and other food crops such as bananas and durian. Malaysian agriculture contributes 12 per cent to national GDP (gross domestic product) and provides jobs for 16 per cent of Malaysia's population. United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has reported that due to the growing human population, farmers need to raise their yields by at least 50 percent more by 2050 in order to provide the world with adequate food. External forces and pressures such as global warming, climate change and unstable weather conditions have also created hectic problems for farmers to maintain crop quality, thus creating an increased sense of urgency for farmers to embrace the technology to assist them in farming operations and rotate to the new ones. In this project, IoT sensors will be utilized to solve the faced problems. The project hopes to ease up farmers’ working experience by the way such as tracking the real time plant data and precise environment data, summary report generation to support farmers in farmers’ decision-making process
