Abstract

A manual time booking procedures is time consuming and ineffective for students or staff to use. An online time booking or a reservation system has been widely used in the world due to its convenience that everyone can access via the Internet and its real-time updated information. This framework main motivation was to propose a web-based online time booking platform for the undergraduates and staff in higher education institution. This platform provides function for undergraduates to book a consultation time of a staff in a simpler way and it also enables the staff to manage their booking time schedule in a more effective way. The proposed system is also able to simplify the process for a user to complete a booking process. Thus, this platform is able to solve the problem faced using the manual booking process and it can provide a better user experience to the academic staff and the students in an academic institution. This project covers five main modules of the platform proposed which are login module, booking module, time schedule module, feedback module and chatbox module. The features of the platform included user authentication, enable users to make consultation appointment requests, view appointment booking schedule, write a feedback after an appointment is ended, leave a message to users to communicate with each other and etc. The software development used to develop the platform is Incremental Model which core product functions are developed first and supplementary functions will be developed in the next version until the desired system is released. The tools used to develop the web-based platform is Visual Studio 2017 software and the database of system will be coded using My Structured Query Language (MySQL).
