Abstract

As the technology is getting advanced in these days, construction industry has started to implement the Building Information Modelling (BIM) system. Not only Architect and Engineer has start adopting the BIM software, as well as Quantity Surveyor. BIM software has been used in performing the task in quantity surveying practice. The risen of BIM system software has bring up the fear to Quantity Surveyor which maybe change the job scope and responsibilities of them and if it continues getting more and more advance, it might threaten the job opportunity of Quantity Surveyor in future. This paper presents a research study on the influence of responsibilities of Quantity Surveyor with the implementation and adoption of BIM software in quantity surveying practice. The objectives to carry out this research is to investigate the task and responsibilities of Quantity Surveyor which will be shifted by BIM system software. Besides, it tend to find out whether is there is any task can be done by non-professional Quantity Surveyor or any person only with the help of BIM software. The challenges will be faced by Quantity Surveyor will also be part of the finding in this research. Questionnaire survey will be conducted to collect the response from the professional Quantity Surveyor in this research in order to achieve the objectives.
