Abstract
The main objectives of this dissertation are to investigate upon the awareness of Business Continuity Plans of the Hospitality Sector of Ipoh City as well as providing an insight on the frameworks of the Business Continuity Plans and Disaster Recovery Plans. In order to identify the potential effects of interruptions to a company’s core operations if a disaster were to happen, a Business Continuity Plan will outline these possibilities as well as specifying effective response actions. (Takahiro & Mikio, 2011) In stimulus to the occurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic which affected the hospitality sector worldwide, it is important to understand benefits of a Business Continuity Plan which will ensure business continuity and recovery measures to be safeguarded. Therefore, it is important to understand the level of awareness of the Business Continuity Plans are in the hospitality sector so that readers will know the current situation of the hospitality sector which may or may not be at risks to disasters that are vulnerable to business failures without the implementation of the Business Continuity Plans in the hotel business. Literature Review as included in Chapter 2 of this dissertation aims to go in-depth in understanding the fundamentals of the Business Continuity Plan in relevance to the target location of Ipoh, Perak Darul Ridzuan. Moreover, the same chapter will also include the concepts of a Business Continuity Plan and a Disaster Recovery Plan. Besides, it will also provide the framework of a Business Continuity Plan and a Disaster Recovery Plan that will serve as a basic guideline in structuring a Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan. In the following chapter, the Research Methodologies will elaborate the research strategies, data collection methods, sampling technique and questionnaire design. Target respondents are basically formed by hotel manager, developers and Business Continuity Committee members which will provide proper information by responding to questionnaires distributed to these parties involved regarding the information of the business/hotel. Chapter 4 will be discussing about the data analysis and results of the research paper as derived from the questionnaire responses gathered from target respondents. The methods of analysis will also be revealed in this chapter as to do analysis on the questionnaire responses. A total of 4 sections comprising of Section A, B, C and D will be assessed. Chapter 5 is the part whereby the conclusion and recommendations of the research paper can be found. This chapter will include a recap of study, research findings of research objectives 1 and 2 in the research paper, the implications and contributions of this research paper, limitations of study, recommendations as well as the overall conclusion of the research paper.
