Abstract

Building defects can be defined as the failure of the performances and ability to deliver a good quality of end product. Improper handling of building defects effectively will cause effects and negative impact to the developers, contractors and buildings. There are a total of 79 respondents taking the questionnaire surveys of this study. The aim of this research is to carry out a study the factors of building defects on high rise projects during and after construction period. The data collected from the questionnaire survey will be used to determine the types of defects, identify causes of defects and the effects of defects towards developers and contractors. All the results collected are analysed by Excel tables, pie charts and bar charts. In this survey, the theory is explained and the understanding of the results will be applied into the findings. The recommendations will be undertaken for the improvement of the building defects in high rise buildings during and after the construction period.
