Abstract

The increasing construction waste generation from the site and demolition activities has caused a huge impact to the environment as well as created a negative effect to our nation, such as costs. environment and economy and increase public health risks. The objective of this descriptive study is to examine the importance of minimising construction and demolition waste for project sites in Malaysia. Construction and demolition activities can generate a wide range of waste, this had created the increased awareness of environmental impacts from construction site waste. This research aims to identify the types of materials generated through construction activities and highlight the causes and impacts of improper waste management, as well as the strategies to reduce construction and demolition waste. Therefore, assist the construction industry in addressing the issues associated with the increase in construction and demolition waste, resulting in the development of a systematic waste management strategy to reduce waste on construction sites and address the waste issues immediately. A total of 355 questionnaire forms were distributed to the parties involved, including developers, contractors, quantity surveyors, engineers, and site supervisors. This research adopted the descriptive statistics of SPSS Statistics software as the data analysis method. The primary source to collect data is from prepared and distributed questionnaires. The secondary data will be obtained from research papers, e-books and journal articles.
