Abstract

With the rapid development in Malaysia, the workforce in construction sites primarily depending on the foreign workers nowadays. The phenomenon is result by the high demand of workforce in construction industry, and shortage of local labourer. The numerous influxes of foreign workers into Malaysia greatly reduced the workforce shortage in construction site. However, the existence of communication barrier among foreign workers in construction sites is always a unignorable problem in the industry as it contributed high rate of accident in construction sites. Although many researchers proposed the methods to reduce communication barrier among foreign workers, however there is no proven to gauge the implementation and effectiveness of these methods in local. The aim of the study is to investigate how well the implementation of these existing methods in local construction sites by identifying the acceptance, effectiveness, and possibility to further improve. This outcome of this research is expected to beneficial the contractor, the foreign workers, and the developer in term of the productivity, and safety aspects. This research focus on construction sites in Kuala Lumpur, Setapak area as a reference to others researcher to conduct their research in similar field in other area. The data will be collected through literature review and questionnaire survey. 79 set of questionnaires will be collected from Grade 5 to Grade 7 contractor within Setapak area. The questionnaire collected will be processed through SPSS by using descriptive analysis.
