Abstract
With the rapid development of Malaysia’s economy and the continuous acceleration of the process of urbanization, the amount of construction works is increasing, but at the same time, the environmental pollution caused by construction is becoming more and more serious. This research first analyses the types of environmental pollution existing in building construction, from the perspective of sustainable development, and proposes prevention and control measures to control environmental pollution in view of the environmental pollution problem of building construction. There are many environmental pollution topics have been covered in books, magazines and different social media such as Facebook to lecture the basic knowledge. This study is conducted to identify types of the environmental pollution caused by construction activities. This study also investigates whether environmental pollution factors affect the human health and well-being and the environment. In this study, there are four types of environmental pollution which are noise pollution, air pollution, water pollution and solid waste pollution. Literature review, questionnaire survey and SPSS Statistics are used to achieve the objectives. Descriptive analysis is used to analyse the result from the questionnaire survey. Literature Review is carried out to understand the environmental pollution caused by construction activities in Klang Valley. After the conduction of Literature Review, follows by Research Methodology chapter that is describing the ways to approach in data collection. Questionnaire Survey is chosen to achieve the objectives of this study. Several questions are designed to assess the view and opinion of the respondents regarding the environmental pollution caused by construction activities in Klang Valley. The result showed that most of the respondent agree that the construction activities bring many negative impacts to the human health and environment, there are some people still treat this problem as invisible, thus resulting the environmental problem is increasingly serious. This study provides the causes, impacts and control measures of environmental pollution caused by construction activities. This can help the construction player to consider environmental pollution factors when carrying out the construction activities. This study also helps the construction player to use suitable control measures to reduce environmental pollution.
