The construction industry is the industry that contributes more negative environmental impact due to the large amount of carbon footprint generated and energy used during the construction project both before and after completion of the project. The introduction of green building development can help in reducing environmental impact by reducing waste generated by housing development. However, the green building requires the integration of BIM (Building Information Modeling) to ease its construction. BIM is now a widely used tool for architect, engineering and civil engineering and its application helps in improving the construction industry efficiency. However, the significance, barriers and way to promote the application of BIM in green building development have not been clearly analysed. To promote the use of BIM into green building development, this study explored the significance of applying BIM into green building development and the barriers of applying BIM into green building development. On the basis of the literature research, the questionnaire will be designed and distributed to target respondents. According to the feedback from the questionnaire, the barriers, significance and way to promote BIM into green building will be ranked so that the most appropriate way to promote the BIM can be proposed.
