Abstract
In this era of Industrial 4.0, the power consumption demand of the vehicle has become more significantly. In other words, the engineer and scientist need to find a way to reduce fuel consumption from the vehicle and utilize a renewable energy sources to instead of modifying the current vehicle power supply technology. The vehicle power supply comes from a technology called internal-combustion engine. The internal combustion engine converts energy from the heat of burning gasoline into mechanical work, or torque. That torque is applied to the wheels to make the car moving. Therefore, when people need to use the vehicle, they should pay the petrol fee to let the car operate and this will cost a lot of money from people. Besides that, this kind of technology will also generate carbon oxide (CO), carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases nitrous oxide and cause our environment become more terrible. From the description above, an engineering student needs to find a solution to change the power consumption of the vehicle by using renewable energy to modify it. This project aims to add in renewable energy components or device in the existing electric vehicle. It is proposed to add in two batteries into the new system. The two batteries are used exchangeably during charging and discharging while getting the input from external renewable sources (e.g. wind generator, solar panel and thermal charger). The purpose of this project is to increase the mileage of an electric vehicle. It will also increase the life of the car batteries. In this project, MATLAB and Simulink will be used to simulate the project and also demonstrate this novel design. Some od the useful software will be used to draw the outline of the car. The simulation will be performed based on power, voltage and current. It will be compared with baseline results. In other word, the hybrid electric car can outperform current electric car in many aspects and these will be elaborated in future. Lastly, clarification for my final year project. From my project proposal, some of the prediction will be have some changes but majority of the entire project still catch up with the plan. And the results and performance of my project were satisfied and creditable.
