Abstract
Soccer is a type of sports known by people all around the world. People always think that soccer is only played by male but many females prefer soccer too. Based on research, soccer has occurred since 2nd or 3rd centuries BC in China during the Han Dynasty. There are also facts that show that Romans, Greeks and Japanese also played ball which not yet called soccer for fun. In 1863, common rules are set to control the soccer match. One of the rules that are well-known is the offside law. Offside law causes a lot of controversy in some matches due to incorrect judgments from the linesmen. This problem is unsolved until today. Soccer matches nowadays are judge by referee and monitor by assistant referees or linesmen. The responsibility of the linesmen is to let the referee know when there is player at the offside position and when there is an offside foul. However, linesman may sometimes misjudge or miss the offside foul. A system trying to solve the problem of misjudging by linesman is created. This offside detection system is done on a simulation soccer field which is 300 times smaller than the real soccer field. For the ease of carrying out analysis, images are obtained by camera and analysis is carried out by using basic image processing method to detect players in offside position. The simulation soccer field is created by using cardboard with green color paper simulating the soccer field. This system is done with the purpose of detecting the color of the jerseys of the soccer players in the future. Therefore, this project is carried out on color dots representing players from different team. The software that used in writing the program code is MATLAB. The process of image processing including the background extraction, extract different colors based on the color intensity, rounded the color dots by using rectangle box and so on. The outcome of this project is that the color dots representing the defensive team will be rounded by red rectangle box, the color dots representing the offensive team will be rounded by blue rectangle box, the goal keeper will be rounded by black rectangle box and the players in offside position will be rounded by green rectangle box.
