Abstract
Censorship in the Malaysian film industry has always been a worry for the filmmakers, which has also resulted in various films that cannot be shown in Malaysia. Censorship has no standard system regarding perspectives on religion factors. However, previous studies have shown controversial Malaysian directors that always attract censorship and the history of the film industry about Malaysian directors and also the more about the director Namewee. This study is to analyze further information in this research against the cultural analysis of Banglasia(2019). The study concludes that there are contested meanings in the film by applying Popular Culture Theory.
