Abstract

There are many articles mentioned about the low adoption and usage of Industrialised Building System (IBS) in construction industry of Malaysia. Therefore, this research is to understand the current status of modern construction method in construction industry of Malaysia. The aim for this research is to identify the frequency of Industrialized Building System usage in Malaysia and understand the challenges facing in implementing IBS. Then, figure out the better solutions to improve the adoption of IBS in Malaysia. Even there are a lot of benefits can be obtained by implementing IBS, but it still affected by the challenges faced during the implementation. The challenges influence the implementation of IBS system, such as cost issues, manpower difficulties, quality factors, relevant parties‟ mind-sets and other challenges. Moreover, this research will figure out the solutions to improve the implementation of Industrialized Building System (IBS) in Malaysia. Questionnaire was conducted to achieve the research aims and objectives. There are 100 sets of questionnaire distributed and 90 sets of questionnaire collected. The questionnaire was distributed through hand-out and e-mail. Then, the data collected from respondents was analysed by using Microsoft Excel. This research and information obtained will rise up the adoption of Industrialized Building System (IBS) in Malaysia.
